  Andrea AndersonAndrea Anderson is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a private practice in McLean providing psychotherapy services focusing on individuals, families, couples, and adolescents. Andrea’s area of expertise include working with sexual addiction, sex therapy counseling, eating disorders, chemical dependency, faith-based/spirituality related issues, cutting/self-injury, sexual abuse and trauma. Previously, she worked as a psychotherapist providing skill-based, educational psychotherapy to individuals and groups in an outpatient and partial hospitalization day treatment program for both high functioning clients and severely mentally ill patients. Multicultural
 
  The chair coordinates workshops, contributes to the NVLPC Newsletter by writing articles on various related issues, attends workshops on multicultural counseling and serves as consultant to colleagues on complicated cases.

Counselor cultural competency is taught in counseling and other related human relations fields and is a part of our code of ethics. It specifies respecting client rights in general, and regarding culturally diverse clients' differences in their world view and cultural orientation.
 
  Lamieh Salimi, PhD, LPC (Chair)
  Lamieh Salimi is a licensed professional counselor and a trained mentor coach. She received her doctorate in counselor education from University of Florida, and has over 25 years of teaching and counseling experience. NBCC Liaison
 
  The National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) is a non-profit organization which promotes excellence in the counseling profession. NBCC maintains a credentialing system for counselors and for organizations which provide continuing education programs and credits to Licensed Professional Counselors. The NVLPC is an accredited provider of continuing education for counselors and as such must maintain documentation required by the NBCC. The NBCC Liaison keeps current with the NBCC requirements, collects the required documentation, and files reports as required by NBCC.

  Michelle FlorimbioMichelle is currently working toward her Ph.D. in counselor education and supervision. She expects to graduate December of 2013. She is also working toward her license as a marriage and family therapist.   Dina L. Karam, MEd (Co-Chair)
  Dina Abou-El-Haj Karam holds a Master’s degree in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech. She currently works as a mental health therapist for Fairfax County and recently started in private practice in Vienna, VA. Dina work primarily with adults on issues of anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self-esteem, relationship issues, and issues related to cultural transition and identity. Dina also speaks Arabic.   Jane Ashley, MEd, LMFT, LPC (Co-Chair)
  Jane Ashley’s first career was as a newspaper journalist at four newspapers including USA Today and The Washington Post. She has worked as a counselor since 1991. In 1996, she founded The Center for Well Being, a private practice that now includes five licensed psychotherapists and six resident counselors working toward licensure. Jane’s counseling approach is narrative therapy. Her narrative training at the Evanston (Ill.) Family Therapy Center included intensives with Michael White, the founder of the narrative therapy movement.   Robin R. Norris, MA, LMFT (Chair)
  Robin R. NorrisRobin is a clinician and supervisor at Family Teamwork a homebased counseling agency that services five counties.  The populations served are at risk youth and families as well as adults with developmental disabilities. Robin has worked with other individuals within the specialty areas of pet loss, military life, gifted and talented challenges, obesity, autism, and women's interests.  She is a PhD student in Counselor Education and Supervision through Capella University and is always interested in supervising blossoming interns and counselors. Supervision
 
  The Supervision Committee maintains the Supervision related information on the NVLPC website; notifies supervisors and supervisees via the website and the newsletter of any new or pending State regulations governing supervision; receives and processes new applications for inclusion on the supervision list, including checking that the applicant holds a current license, has current liability insurance, and has met the State requirements for becoming a supervisor, then adds that applicant's name to the supervision list; provides follow up with current supervisors regarding the expiration of their license or liability insurance when necessary to maintain their name on the supervision list; responds to telephone and email inquiries regarding supervision.
 
  Loretta A. Schulz, MS, LPC (Chair)
  Loretta A. SchulzLoretta has a private practice in Fairfax and has been a member of the NVLPC Board since 1997, when she joined NVLPC. She started the Student Development Committee, helping to increase membership from about 75 members to roughly 130 members by visiting local universities and speaking to counseling graduate students about the next step in their careers after graduation and offering a workshop on how to study for the Virginia LPC examination. She also started the Multicultural Committee to bring awareness about NVLPC to Licensed Professional Counselors of different cultures, as well as to bring awareness to the community of the existence of these counselors. Most recently she started the Supervision Coordinator position, maintaining a list of NVLPC members who want to provide supervision to supervisees working toward licensure. During her 13 years on the Board, she has served one term as the NVLPC Chairperson, one term as the Secretary, and one term as the Virginia Association Clinical Counselors Representative.   Beth B. CujéDr. Beth Cuje' LPC, LMFT Since 1984 she has been in private practice in Arlington, Virginia. In addition, she was a trainer/consultant for various government agencies and taught graduate courses in Counseling and Human Development at The George Washington University for eleven years. Dr. Cuje' is the award nominated and highly reviewed author of the book, Become the Person You Were Meant to Be - The Choice-Cube Method. She developed this fresh approach to self-help from her years of experience as a counselor.
