Sandra 'Sandy' Molle, LPC, BCN, NCC

 Sandra Molle, LPC, BCN, NCC, has been a licensed clinician for over fifteen years.  In addition to her extensive experience in the provision of DBT-informed therapy, she incorporates a lot of the neuroscience research in her brain-based interventions with clients including biofeedback and neurofeedback.  She is a certified Neurofeedback provider.  Sandy has been in private practice in Woodbridge, Virginia, for the last six years.  She enjoys providing supervision to residents and values the opportunity to assist new clinicians in setting and maintaining high standards in the field of counseling. You can email Sandra at at EdDirector@nvlpc.orgYou can email Sandy at

Renae Smith, LPC

Renae Smith received her BA from the University of Wisconsin—Green Bay in music education and her MA in Human Services Counseling from Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA.  Renae is an LPC and has been in private practice for the past 15 years.  She is owner and operator of Adrian Counseling Center, LLC in Fairfax, VA, where she practices counseling with children, adolescents, adults and families. Renae also enjoys teaching workshops and seminars on various topics, including education, counseling, and spiritual issues. She has been a member of NVLPC since 2008 and looks forward to helping NVLPC continue to provide excellent educational programming and networking opportunities for its members.  You can email Renae at

Maria McCabe

Maria earned her MA in Community Counseling from Argosy University in 2011. Since 2012, she  has been working as a counselor in the area of substance abuse.  She also works in a psychiatric emergency center, focusing on mental health assessments.  Of joining NVLPC, Maria says, ‘I joined NVLPC as soon as I learned about it, in 2012. I found it helpful for the training opportunities (continuing education for National Certified Counselors) and the networking opportunities. I am happy to be part of the Board because it is important to have a group in the community to represent our field and I am glad to be part of that as treasurer for NVLPC.‘ You can email Maria at

John-Mike Nelson, MS, LPC, LSATP

John-Mike Nelson is an LPC in private practice in Northern VA. Until recently he was working as an Intensive Outpatient Program therapist at a community services board in the Northern Neck area of VA. For the past 8 years he has worked with individuals, groups, and families experiencing a wide variety of hardships. He is also a doctoral student at Walden University in their Counselor Education & Supervision program. He has been a member of NVLPC since May 2013 and has since served as Secretary and Vice President. One of his goals in leadership of NVLPC is to support the growth and expansion of the organization tailored to the needs of the members it serves. You can email John-Mike

Durriya Augelli

Durriya Augelli earned her MS in Counseling and Psychology from what is now Troy University, Global Campus while serving on active duty in the reserves as an officer and instructor at the US Navy’s Nuclear Power School. Her prior degrees are BS/BA in Mathematics/Sociology from Villanova University.  She has experience with military families, residential treatment and group homes, domestic violence, adjustment issues, stress and anger management, academic support, and social skills development. A few graduate classes short of VA Board of Counseling requirements for pursuing LPC, Durriya currently enjoys working with special needs children as a substitute teacher in Fairfax County, volunteering on the Helpline at a local domestic violence shelter, the duties of navy wife, raising teenagers with and without her husband, and assisting on the NVLPC Committee.  You can contact Durriya at at


Membership Director / Membership Chair


Maya Georgieva, M.A., NCC 

Maya Georgieva, M.A., NCC is a doctoral candidate in counselor education and supervision, and a resident in counseling. Born and raised in Eastern Europe, she relocated to the United States in 2009. In her role of adjunct professor at Marymount University, she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, and mentors counselors in training. Maya works with adolescent and adult clients at Sunstone Counseling, a private practice in Northern Virginia.

Maya volunteered to lead the Membership committee when she learned about this opportunity from the NVLPC website. She is thrilled to be mentored by Amy Parks, Past Membership Committee Chair, and to work on expanding and integrating members into NVLPC. In her new role, she plans to develop great new relationships with NVLPC members, and learn more about their professional needs and interests. To this end, Maya will facilitate networking opportunities, and utilize technology to help members connect, and create a sense of one thriving professional community.

Shulamit Widawsky 

Shulamit is in private practice as a consultant for the gifted. She works mostly with highly and profoundly gifted adults, as well as parents of gifted children. Her website is "Guiding the Gifted" at She has been an active member of NVLPC since 2011, and was our volunteer editor for our organization's website the first half of 2013.
