Dina Abou-El-Haj Karam
holds a Master’s degree in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech.
She currently works as a mental health therapist for Fairfax County and
recently started in private practice in Vienna, VA. Dina work primarily
with adults on issues of anxiety, depression, grief and loss,
self-esteem, relationship issues, and issues related to cultural
transition and identity. Dina also speaks Arabic.

Jacquie Armstrong
was born and raised in Baltimore, MD where she completed her graduate
studies with an MS in Applied Psychology from the University of
Baltimore and a Post-Master's Certificate in Clinical Community
Counseling from the Johns Hopkins University. She recently obtained
licensure in Maryland and Virginia.
Jacquie worked as a clinician at Johns Hopkins while living in Maryland.
Upon moving to Virginia in August 2008, she began practicing at the
Woodburn Center for Community Mental Health where she works primary with
children, adolescents, and their families. In September 2009, Jacquie
began a fellowship in psychodynamic therapy with children at the
Baltimore Washington Center for Psychoanalysis and the Infant and Young
Child Mental Health Seminar at the Washington School of Psychiatry. |

Jane Ashley’s first career was as a newspaper journalist at four newspapers
including USA Today and The Washington Post. She has worked as a
counselor since 1991. In 1996, she founded The Center for Well Being, a
private practice that now includes five licensed psychotherapists and
six resident counselors working toward licensure. Jane’s counseling
approach is narrative therapy. Her narrative training at the Evanston
(Ill.) Family Therapy Center included intensives with Michael White, the
founder of the narrative therapy movement. Jane coordinates a narrative
peer supervision group twice a month at her offices in Falls Church
City. |

Julie Day is a LPC working in a Community MH Center. She
graduated from Marymount University with a MA in Counseling Psychology,
and a Graduate Counseling Certificate. Julie has worked for the
Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board for more than six years.
She specializes in Co-Occurring Disorders. Prior to this she managed an
adolescent drug and alcohol program (SAFE) for court ordered youth. |

Nina Flowers received her Bachelor of Arts degree in
Psychology from San Diego State University in 1982 and her Master’s
Degree in Education (Counseling & Development) at George Mason
University in 2000. Her internship was accomplished at George Mason
University’s Counseling and Learning Center. While preparing for
licensure she spent 4 ˝ years counseling for an agency providing
home-based services, which proved to be a wonderful learning experience.
She obtained her counseling license in July 2005 and opened her private
practice on August 1, 2005.

Fortney is an Imago Relationship Therapist in Centreville and
Arlington. She works with a singles, couples (gay/lesbian and
heterosexual), siblings, parent/adolescent, and blended families. She
focuses on pre-marital counseling, infidelity, sexual difficulties,
separation and divorce, communication skills, AD/HD, and trauma.
Modalities include: Voice Dialogue, Emotional Freedom Techniques, EMDR,
and Solution Oriented Brief Therapy. She is a volunteer mental health
provider with the American Red Cross. |

Laura Knight
is
a therapist with Prince William County Community Services in Woodbridge,
where she works with adults with serious mental illness. She graduated
from the Mental Health Counseling program at the University of Virginia
in May 2008. Prior to graduate school, she worked at a special education
school with children and teens with autism and other developmental
disorders. Laura is currently working towards licensure. |

Lois Mitchell
has been in private practice in Woodbridge since 2006 and specializes in
working with couples and individuals using a developmental and
attachment framework. Trained as a Counselor at GMU, where the focus was
Cognitive and Behavioral, Lois finds that working
holistically—integrating thoughts, feelings, physical and behavioral
aspects of life—has made a difference in my practice and my
understanding. She enjoys her clients, and she learns from each one of
them. She has been married for 40 years, raised two daughters who are
now independent, and she stays attached to family, to the place where
they were born, and to their own goals. Her goals are to remain engaged
with family and community through her work and leisure. She loves to
read, take long walks, and watch movies and garden. |

and is a graduate of the Coaches Training Institute (CTI). Experience

Joan has been in private practice in McLean, VA since 1992. She has a
general adult practice with emphasis on family context and family of
origin history. She uses EMDR and other right-brain practices to heal
any old traumas that cause problematic defenses. She has a background in
addiction treatment and often works to assist families who have an
addicted member to get that person into treatment.

Jennifer Riordan was a Teacher of the Deaf for 5 1/2 years
after college. She earned an MA in special education and wrote a book,
They Can Sing Too, about using music to enhance the speech of deaf
children. After raising two daughters, she went back to school and
earned her MEd in Mental Health Counseling. Jennifer is an LPC in

Jama Thurman
has been in private practice in Manassas since 2004. She specializes in
Christian counseling, and enjoys working with teens and adults who are
stressed and depressed and have sleep issues. She received her master’s
degree in counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary and her bachelor’s
