About the Event

Dr. Williams will provide mental health professionals with research-based information, activities and interventions to help clients to manage their conflict and repair the hurt that they have received and inflicted onto their partner. Attendees will learn how to aid couples to develop a better friendship, deepen their level of intimacy and develop and share d reams and goals.

As a result of taking this training, you will learn about Gottman Method:
 Research-based strategies and tools to help couples successfully manage conflict
 How to empower couples to uncover their underlying dreams, history and values
 Demonstrate procedures to help couples process fights and heal
 Practice techniques for partners to deepen their intimacy


The NVLPC Mini-Expo will be held during this event.  The schedule is as follows:

9:00am – 10:00 AM, Registration and Mini-Expo Vendors

10:00 AM - 12 noon Part 1, Workshop

12:00pm-12:30pm, Mini-Expo Vendors

12:30pm-1:30pm Lunch

1:30 PM - 3:30 PM  Part 2, Workshop


Earn 4 Contact Hours for attending this event; continental breakfast and a buffet lunch are included in the registration cost.


About The Presenter:

Dr. Williams is an Associate Professor, Counselor Educator, and is Level II Certified in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Dr. Williams is Associate Professor with the School of Psychology and Counseling at Regent University; he has worked in higher education for over 20 years as a faculty member and an administrator. In addition to his years working in higher education, he has worked in community agencies providing mental health counseling. He currently has a private practice where the primary focus is working with couples around issues of marriage. He has received over 60 hours of specialized training utilizing the Gottman Theory For Making Relationships Work. This method is centered on the concept that to make relationships last, couples must become better friends, learn to manage conflict, and create ways to support each other's hopes for the future. His practice also specializes in treating substance and behavioral addictions, depression, anxiety and other adjustment issues.

Dr. Williams received his Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Florida. He also has a Master's Degree in Counseling from the University of Hartford. He is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida and Virginia.

Walk-in registrations will be accepted on the day of the event starting at 9:00 AM.

To cancel, please call or email 24 hours in advance or you will be charged for the event.  If NVLPC cancels an event, you will be refunded the cost of the event.




NVLPC has been approved by NBCC as a Approved Continuing Education provider, ACEP No. 6130.  Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified.  NVLPC is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
