Estimated monthly time commitment: 4 Volunteers needed to visit graduate student programs. Talk about the vast opportunities students have in this field. Share about NVLPC, help create ideas on how to support students. If you're a student, help us spread the word. If you're a therapist, share your expertise. The Supervision Committee is responsible for:
- Maintaining the NVLPC website information including:
- Information about what supervision is
- The latest updates from the Board of Counseling regarding changes to supervision requirements, regulation changes, pre-licensure requirements
- Application for becoming an NVLPC Verified Supervisor
- Processing applications for becoming an NVLPC Verified Supervisor including:
- That the applicant has obtained the required 20 CEU hours for the State of Virginia supervision approval
- That the applicant has a current State license to practice counseling in the State of Virginia
- That the applicant has current Liability Insurance to practice counseling in the State of Virginia
- Checking the State of Virginia Board of Counseling website for:
- Any changes to the State of Virginia requirements for supervision
- Any changes in the regulations governing Supervision in the State of Virginia
- Writing a monthly article for the NVLPC newsletter about supervision including:
- Current trends in supervision
- Current State of Virginia requirements for supervision
- Changes in the regulations governing Supervision in the State of Virginia
- How to become an NVLPC Verified Supervisor
- Responding either by phone or email to questions from other professionals regarding:
- becoming a supervisor in the State of Virginia
- the laws governing supervision
- where to obtain training in supervision to acquire the 20 CEU’s required by the State
- how to become an NVLPC Verified Supervisor
- how to handle problems with supervisees
- how to handle problems with supervisors
- Attending NVLPC Board meetings to include providing a Supervision Committee report

Estimated monthly time commitment: 2 We need a few volunteers to help at the Ethics Workshop on November 9th at Chantilly Golf and CC.
We also need volunteers for the Spring DSM V Workshop on April 12th.
We are looking for a few of you to work with her this year so you can take over in June 2013. The great thing about the Workshop Committee is you only have to put on two events and we have a process in place to make it easy and fun! Please contact Tracy at Workshop@nvlpc.org if you are interested.
