Trauma Informed Care: It's Not Drama, It's Trauma -  1.5 Credit Hours

Presented by Amy Hughes, MA, LPC, LMHP, CCTP

About the Event:

Becoming “trauma informed” means appreciating that no one is immune to the impact of trauma. Understanding that trauma comes in many forms, shapes and sizes is foundational in the ability to recognize and respond to the effects of trauma. Trauma disrupts healthy development and impairs one's ability to connect to others and feel safe. Oftentimes trauma survivors can be re-traumatized by well-intended providers and caregivers. Trauma Informed Care aims to bridge the gap in treatment through education and awareness. It’s Not Drama It’s Trauma supports a Paradigm shift and provides an opportunity for providers to embrace treatment through a trauma informed lens.

Learning Objectives:
· Define and be able to identify the different types of trauma and its prevalence in 2018.
· Understand the Adverse Childhood Experiences study and embrace its fundamental importance to the trauma informed care paradigm shift.
· Understand what trauma informed care involves, what it looks like and how it’s different from traditional models of care.
